My original idea for the League of Ordinary Savers came from a couple of conversations with friends. I realized that a lot of people are in need of, and open to, advice about their personal finances. But it’s daunting to know where to start. I also realized that I’ve learned a lot over the past several years as I cleaned up my own finances. A lot more than I realized. So I thought about starting a discussion group just among a few friends, so we could trade ideas and knowledge in a friendly atmosphere.
But I got so inspired by the idea that I thought I’d create a companion website, to capture all my ideas about finance, as well as any questions raised — and answered — in the discussion group. I also added a forum page (courtesy of my lovely webmaster Anitra) so there could be virtual questions and answers as well.
So, we’ll see where this goes! I’ll add content as I go and hopefully make this place into a source of simple, solid information to help everyday finances work harder for everyday people.
